Welcome to our Honorary President

By Guy Marchand-Wednesday 21 Jan 2026

It is with great joy and pride that the organizing committee of the 61st edition of the Mousquiri National Atom Tournament welcomes this year, as honorary president, a true hometown hero: Jonathan Raymond!

At 28 years old, the son of Nancy Lapointe and Jean Raymond, Jonathan is entering his sixth season in senior baseball. He began his career with the Sherbrooke Expos in 2020 after being selected in the second round of the 2019 draft. Prior to that, he spent four seasons with the Coaticook Rocket in the Québec Junior Elite League, as well as three years at the Midget AAA level with the Sherbrooke Athlétiques.

Primarily a shortstop, but also playing second base and occasionally pitching, Jonathan Raymond has posted a .275 batting average over six seasons in the Québec Major Baseball League (QMBL). In 135 regular-season games, the 28-year-old infielder has recorded 99 hits, 29 runs batted in, and 55 runs scored. On the mound, he holds an earned run average of 4.16. This summer, he will begin a new chapter with the Brock Nutrite de Drummondville, which acquired his services in a trade last November.

A wonderful surprise!

Jonathan accepted the organizing committee’s invitation with great enthusiasm, as the committee wished to recognize the talent and determination of this young man who is now reaping the rewards of his hard work.

“I was very surprised to learn the news, but it is a tremendous honor for a kid from Richmond who has always been proud to represent his hometown, both in hockey and in baseball. I’ve experienced the tournament from every angle — as a volunteer, a player, a spectator, and now as honorary president! I would also like to extend a huge thank-you to everyone involved in the tournament for their valuable time and dedication, year after year, in providing a memorable hockey experience for the players and their families. The real heroes are them,” he added.

Like many young people from Richmond, Jonathan had the opportunity to participate in the Mousquiri Tournament in 2007 and 2008 as a player with the Richmond Express, reaching the Class A final. He also became involved as a volunteer, serving as a team sponsor, working at the music control desk, and, along with his family, helping provide lodging for players.

It is worth noting that hockey and volunteer involvement have always played an important role in the Raymond family. Jonathan’s grandfather Donat, his father Jean, as well as several of his siblings, have all been actively involved as volunteers at the Mousquiri Tournament over the years.
