RENÉ THIBAULT EXCELLENCE AWARD

Since 1995, the organizing committee of the Mousquiri M-11 National Tournament, in collaboration with the City of Richmond, has found a way to honor the memory of one of the tournament’s great builders and an exceptional community volunteer, Me René Thibault, who passed away in the spring of 1994, by creating the René Thibault Excellence Award.

This award is presented annually during the official opening of the tournament. Its purpose is to recognize the achievements, successes, and volunteer contributions of outstanding men and women in our region who have distinguished themselves in various fields such as sports, business, culture, the arts, politics, volunteering, and more.

The first recipient of the René Thibault Excellence Award was Mr. Ian Hume. Since then, numerous individuals have been honored, including: Father Roland Bacon, Mrs. Michelle Nadeau, Mr. Réal Veilleux, Mr. Dustin Jones, Mr. Daniel Ménard, Mr. Jean-Paul Deslauriers, Mrs. Hélène Viger, Mr. Marc-André Martel, Mr. Bertrand Ménard, Mr. Sylvain Lefebvre, Mr. Jean-Guy Berthiaume, Mr. Sylvain Daigle, Mr. Robert Dalton, Mrs. Jeannette Charland, Miss Roxane B. Deslauriers, Mr. Georges-Henri Poulin, Mr. Yvon Poirier, Mr. Jean-François Plante, Mr. Guy Boutin, Mr. Louis Cloutier, Mrs. Patricia Henderson, Mrs. Suzanne Nault, Messrs. Réal and Marcel Couture, Mrs. Manon Morin, Mr. Rudy Pelletier, and Miss Valérie St-Jean.

AWARD RECIPIENT: CLIFFORD LANCASTER

This year’s recipient is a well-known figure in the region for his volunteer work in the community: Clifford Lancaster. A municipal councilor for the City of Richmond for 12 years, Mr. Lancaster has been a volunteer for the Celtic Soccer Club of Richmond for over 35 years. He has not only been a coach but also served as president, referee, and participated in various related tasks, including preparing the fields.

In addition to his involvement in soccer, Clifford Lancaster has been a member of the board of directors of the Richmond County Agricultural Fair for over 50 years. He served as president twice and led the horticulture committee as a director. In recent years, he has also been involved with the 50 Plus organization.

Mr. Lancaster will receive the René Thibault Excellence Award on Friday, February 7, at 5:30 PM during the official opening ceremony.
