PRESS RELEASE – 60th MOUSQUIRI TOURNAMENT

The M-11 Mousquiri National Tournament will take place from February 3 to 16 at the P.E. Lefebvre Arena in Richmond.

46 teams will compete for victory across the 85 games scheduled. The tournament will welcome 17 two-letter teams in the AA and BB divisions, as well as 29 teams in the A, B, and C divisions. As for the tournament format, it remains unchanged from previous years, with each registered team guaranteed a minimum of three games. This format is well-received by all and also explains why we cannot accommodate a larger number of teams.

As tradition dictates, the diversity of the teams is a key element, as the tournament will host teams from several regions of Quebec, including the Eastern Townships, Bois-Francs, Centre-du-Québec, Lanaudière, Lac-Saint-Louis, Montérégie, Richelieu, Quebec City, Montreal, Outaouais, and the Laurentians. The tournament will also welcome three teams from the United States, two from New Hampshire and one from Vermont.

It is worth mentioning that this 60th edition will be held under the honorary presidency of Guy Marchand, a long-time volunteer of the tournament. The committee has chosen to honor this dedicated collaborator, who has been involved in every decade of this sporting event, which began in 1964. He has over 50 years of volunteer work and will begin his 40th year on the organizing committee in 2025.

As for the tournament finals, they will take place on both Sundays, as per tradition. On the first Sunday, February 9, the B division final will be held at 6:00 PM, followed by the BB division final at 7:30 PM. The other three finals will be held on the final Sunday, February 16. The first will take place at 4:00 PM in the C division, followed by the A division final at 5:30 PM and the AA division final at 7:00 PM.

Let us recall that in 2024, during the last edition of the tournament, the champion teams were: in the C division, Les Montagnards de Ste-Agathe des Monts; in the B division, Wild Desjardins (1) of Richmond-Windsor; in the A division, Wild Desjardins of Richmond-Windsor; in the BB division, Phoenix (1) of Sherbrooke; and in the AA division, Collège Français of St-Hubert.
